An extension of my Senior Capstone project for the Kinetic Imaging Department at VCUarts. Collective.onl is an interactive vintage vernacular photography archive of my photography collection, sourced from thrift stores, online forums, and acquaintances I made along the course of the 3 years developing this collection.
Developed, designed, and coded by me, utilizing HTML/CSS, Collective aims to extend into a community for found images to live harmoniously. Collective.onl is actively being developed to provide a platform for individuals with found images to upload to the site, create accounts, and save their favorite images to their profiles.
The problem with image sharing on the internet is the often pixelated, paywalled barriers that keep creatives from images that call to them. The surrendering of images to thrift stores, online forums, and Craigslist ads is to surrender themselves to creative liberties. Collective.onl is a hub for creatives, storytellers, and familial historians to rely on. Collective's Manifesto:
Collective.onl highlights the accompanying zine of my Capstone exhibition in March of 2023 of the same title, Collective.
The entirety of my code can be found on my Github: github.com/claireevan/Collective.onl.git.
